Distance Buying Regulations
I bought a coin control board from a company in Kent as i thought mine had died (it’s a little board that controls the input of money for an arcade machine). The annoying that was I paid £17 for the board, then a tenner delivery costs, THEN vat on top of that. So a £17 pcb the size of a credit card actually cost me thirty quid.
Anyway, i couldn’t get the bloody thing to work. Wouldn’t connect to the coin slot, wouldn’t connect to the minipac properly. And i had a chap test out the original pcb and that works perfectly.
So i sent it back.
They sent me a cheque yesterday. But minus delivery and a 20% restocking fee. So my money back was £15.50.
The problem I have with this is a little law called ‘Distance Selling Regulations’ brought about in 2000 to protect purchases off the web.
The DSR states that you are entitled to a 7 day cooling off period from the date of receiving the goods for anything you’ve bought that needed to be sent through the post. During that time, if you decide you don’t want it you can return it for a full refund including any delivery charges incurred. You do not need a reason.
It really is as simple as that.

Up yours, now give me my money, man!
I hate being ripped off, i don’t care if it’s for 10p or £15. If i’m entitled to it, I want it.
These tossers charge whatever the hell they like and then decide to bung on a bullshit ‘restocking’ fee if you want to return it. Fucking quids in for them! Nasty empty ripped-off feeling for the rest of us.
I sent them an email last night, they haven’t replied. Which is a good thing believe me.
Watch this space.
