Nailed that inferno… to DETH.
As much as complained about Dante’s Inferno on Friday I haven’t actually been able to stop playing it. So much so in fact that I completed it last night. I even turned off a new game (can’t remember the title; Baby-Bio 2 or something) that I was trying out to go back to it.
That’s right, descended into the 9 levels of hell going down, down, deeper and down until I reached Lucifer himself. Then I kicked his pansy ass all the way into the afterlife.
I know I said it wasn’t epic-y enough, but I really enjoyed it. I have 2 major complaints though. It’s a little short having finished it in a not at all brain-melting 6.5 hours. The second one is before you get to the end in the level of Fraud (for which Dante is most guilty of) you need to go through 9 trials. And they’re all arena battles, as in ‘Kill everyone without using block’, etc.
Now, a couple is great fun, can’t beat a good old arena fight with a shit load of minions, but not 9 of them for crying out loud.
Feels like when the developers completed writing the game, one of them said, hang on, it’s a bit short innit, and another guy piped up with, hey I know, lets pad it out by 40 minutes by having 9 arena battles, yeah i know everyone will get pissed off, but it’ll make it seem much longer.
But generally the game was very enjoyable. The cutscenes are done incredibly well and full of atmosphere. The detail and styles of Hell are possibly the best ever made in a game. Okay, so it’s exactly the same as God of War. And i mean exactly. But what the hey, you can’t beat a good hack n slash game.
Now, it’s onto the next one. First impressions are that playing as Giant Haystacks just doesn’t feel as gripping or immersive as it was in the first one. Kinda like ‘Seen all this before, give me something new’
